Frequently Asked Questions

Are dermal fillers safe?

Absolutely! Dermal fillers have been used for many years and are considered safe when administered by trained healthcare professionals. However, like any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects. That's why it's important to consult with a qualified practitioner who can assess your suitability for treatment and discuss any potential risks or allergies specific to you.

How long do dermal fillers last?

The duration of results varies depending on the type of filler and your individual metabolism. Generally, hyaluronic acid fillers can last from six months to over a year, while other fillers may provide even longer-lasting results. Factors like the treated area, your lifestyle, and metabolism can also influence how long the effects will be noticeable.

Are there certain areas or situations where ultrasound-guided fillers work best?

Absolutely! Ultrasound guidance is particularly advantageous in areas where the anatomy is intricate, such as the tear troughs (under-eye area), temples, and nose. These regions require precise placement of fillers, and ultrasound imaging allows practitioners to navigate with accuracy. Additionally, ultrasound guidance is beneficial for individuals who have had previous filler complications or those seeking corrections or revisions to achieve optimal results. The real-time imaging helps ensure a targeted approach, reducing the risk of complications and enhancing the overall outcome.

Does the procedure hurt?

Most people find dermal filler injections quite tolerable. Many fillers contain a local anesthetic called lidocaine, which helps minimize discomfort during the procedure. Additionally, practitioners often use other numbing techniques like topical numbing cream or ice to enhance your comfort during the treatment.

Are there any side effects of dermal fillers?

While side effects are generally mild and temporary, they can include redness, swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort at the injection site. These effects typically subside within a few days. Although rare, more serious side effects such as infection, allergic reactions, or the formation of lumps/bumps can occur. It's crucial to discuss potential side effects and risks with your practitioner beforehand.

Can dermal fillers be reversed or dissolved?

Yes, hyaluronic acid fillers can be reversed or dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This can be useful if you're not satisfied with the results or experience complications. Click here to book a consultation for filler dissolving and complication management.

What is the recovery time after dermal filler treatment?

Recovery time after dermal filler treatment is typically minimal. Most individuals can resume their normal activities immediately following the procedure. However, it's advisable to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun exposure, and alcohol consumption for a day or two after treatment to optimize your results and minimize potential side effects.
